Craig Johnston, a high school friend of Barry’s, had the idea for the original Run America in the early 2000s. Their home of Boston, love of sports, lifelong passion for the Red Sox, and insatiable appetite for running kept their friendship strong and inspired Run America I. After 30 days and 3350 miles, the team conquered the coast-to-coast affair that started in the tiny town of Tillamook, Oregon and finished with a victory lap around the warning track in Fenway Park. Though shortened to 8 or 9 days, Run America II, down the West coast from Portland to San Francisco, and Run America III, from Atlanta to Washington, DC, were no less exciting or fun!
