The May 2007 addition of Bicyling Magazine has a story on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we will be traveling. The Heavenly Blues (note: this file is large and make take a while to download) The team will start in Atlanta, Georgia, wind its way through Lawrenceville, and then head north to Franklin, North Carolina. On Sunday, we will continue north to the southern terminus of the Blue Ridge Parkway, at the edge of the Great Smoky Mts. National Park, and then wind on the Parkway, past Water Rock Knob
to Asheville, North Carolina.
On Monday, we will head northeast, past Grandfather Mountain,
on the way to Boone. Tuesday will find us continuing to angle northeast on the Parkway, crossing into Virginia at the end of the day to finish in Fancy Gap. On Wednesday, we head past the Mabry Mill.
and on to Roanoke. From there, it’s on past the Peaks of Otter,
on our way to Waynesboro, at the northern end of the Parkway. On Friday, we will run the length of Skyline Drive, past Stony Man Mountain,
and ending in Front Royal. And finally, on Saturday, we will head toward D.C., joining up with the Washington and Old Dominion Trail in Vienna, before crossing the Potomac River and finishing at the Washington Monument.
